Liverpool will be kicking themselves after dropping valuable points in the Premier League title race on Sunday to Manchester United.
After losing their FA Cup fixture at Old Trafford 4-3 last month, Jurgen Klopp would have been desperate for his team to put things right in their race to become champions of England in his final season at the club.
But that didn’t happen, with Manchester United, somehow, recording a 2-2 draw and denting Liverpool’s title chances.
At half-time, the Reds had 15 efforts on goal, with Luis Diaz the only one able to find the back of the net.
But then, out of nothing, Jarell Quansah made a costly error when he played the ball straight into the path of Bruno Fernandes at the start of the second half.
Even though the Manchester United captain was still 40 odd yards out, he somehow managed to level the scores to the shock of those inside Old Trafford.
Despite that mistake, Nemanja Vidic was sure to give Quansah his flowers and how he was ‘magnificent’ after that error, as he told Premier League Productions (07/04/24 at 5:35 pm).
The former centre-back stated that the 21-year-old ‘showed personality’ and reacted well to that moment which sparked the game into life for the home team.
Liverpool were dominating, they just couldn’t find that cutting edge. As per, Man United looked toothless and they were staring at another defeat.
But that moment from Quansah changed the tide of the game because it gave the home team a foothold, but Vidic didn’t want to blame the young Liverpool academy star.
Jarell Quansah’s mistake for Bruno Fernandes’ goal
“It’s an obvious mistake, but I have to say, after that he was magnificent. He showed personality and that’s what it takes to play for a big club like Liverpool,” said Vidic.
“It’s too easy to concede a goal like Liverpool did. Obviously, a great finish by Bruno. I made some mistakes during my career at Man United.
“The most important attribute is don’t make another mistake, so praise to him. He is a young boy. He was strong enough physically to finish the game well.”

Liverpool drop valuable points in Premier League title race
This is dropped points, make no bones about it. Klopp will be fuming because his team should have secured all three here.
Yes, on paper, this is a huge, huge fixture. But the gap in quality between these two teams is pretty evident.
Yet, from the three games they have played this season, Man United are unbeaten and picked up that valuable win in the FA Cup.
As things stand, Liverpool are level with Arsenal at the top of the table, but Mikel Arteta’s men lead on goal difference.
