Before Manchester United could take centre stage against their bitter rivals in the FA Cup and secure a stunning 4-3 win, it wouldn’t have been a surprise if many fans were fearing the worst.
Not only are Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool absolutely flying this season, but he has an outstanding record against the club.
But after ten minutes, when Scott McTominany bundled Manchester United into the lead, it wasn’t just the perfect start, but a deserved one for the under-fire, Erik ten Hag.
That’s why Dwight Yorke was fuming with Andre Onana and the role he played in allowing Liverpool to go into the break of normal time with a 2-1 lead, as he told beIN SPORTS (17/03/24 at 4:30 pm).
Minutes into the half-time break, Manchester United conceded two quick-fire goals, with Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah getting on the scoresheet.
That completely changed the mood inside Old Trafford and Erik ten Hag’s players reverted back to their old self, before the drama just continued into extra time.
But Dwight Yorke slammed Andre Onana’s ‘stupid mistake’ and playing out from that back that resulted in Liverpool punishing their opponents at such a crucial time of the game.
Andre Onana criticised
“The goalkeeper at the near post, he should still be able to get that,” said Yorke.
“This is what I am talking about. Stupid mistakes. The goalkeeper could have cleared, then he passes it to Wan-Bissaka in the corner. Compounded to put the problem every time and to concede at this stage.
“This is what I am saying. There is playing out, then there are times to play out!”

Andre Onana’s debut season at Manchester United
A certain David de Gea, who Onana replaced in between the sticks after his £47 million transfer in the summer, also found life difficult during his early years at the club.
And it’s fair to say that Onana is facing the same issues.
He can’t deny it but it’s because of him Manchester United finished bottom of their Champions League group.
To be fair, Onana has faired much better in the Premier League, but it seems as though everything he does now is being scrutinised to the absolute maximum.
