Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou feels that his players didn’t show the ‘endeavour’ needed to find a result against Fulham.

Tottenham headed across London on Saturday afternoon, seeking another away win after hammering Aston Villa 4-0 last Sunday.

Instead, it was Tottenham who were convincingly beaten this time as Fulham ran riot at Craven Cottage.

Rodrigo Muniz scored twice for Fulham, finding the net either side of Sasa Lukic’s goal to secure a 3-0 win.

Tottenham just never got going and with both Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner missing from close range, this just wasn’t going to be their day.

Ange Postecoglou on Tottenham display

Boss Ange Postecoglou can’t have been happy with what he saw.

Yes, Tottenham were missing Micky van de Ven, but that shouldn’t make Spurs completely fall apart.

Spurs lacked the intensity we have become used to seeing under Postecoglou and the Australian wasn’t happy.

Speaking to Football London, Postecoglou noted that this was the ‘first time’ this season where he didn’t think Tottenham hit certain performance markers.

Postecoglou feels that Tottenham have been ‘really competitive’ all season and have previously shown the right levels of endeavour even when losing games.

That didn’t happen on Saturday though with Postecoglou suggesting that the competitiveness was ‘missing’ from Tottenham’s display, something he isn’t used to seeing.

“To be fair to the players, it’s the first time this year where I’ve felt, especially in the second half, that we just didn’t…we’re in the position we are because every week we’ve been really, really competitive in every aspect of the game and even in our losses I’ve felt like we’ve hit certain markers in terms of our endeavour and competitiveness and I though that it was missing today and that was disappointing,” said Postecoglou.

To go from the high of the win over Villa to the low of losing in that manner on Saturday is just so disappointing for Tottenham.

Postecoglou’s side took a huge step forward last week only to take a big one backwards this week.

A favour from West Ham United in their clash with Villa would be welcome but Tottenham had a chance to get their own business done and passed it up.

These performances could be the difference in the race for Champions League football and Spurs simply have to come back from the international break in improved fashion.
