Steven Gerrard is one of the greatest midfielders to have played in the Premier League and is a Liverpool legend, and Kevin Nolan thinks that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have found a new version of the former England international.
Arsenal signed Declan Rice from London and Premier League rivals West Ham United in the summer of 2023.
West Ham coach Kevin Nolan has been hugely impressed with Rice. He worked with the England international midfielder at the Hammers.
Nolan has said that Rice reminds him of Steven Gerrard. Gerrard is a Liverpool legend and one of the most iconic midfielders to have turned out in the Premier League.
The West Ham coach has noted the similarities in the game between Rice and Gerrard.
Arsenal star Declan Rice compared to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard
Nolan said about Rice on BBC Radio 5 Live: “I just they have just added something with Dec, which, I have said before. he can do different things.

“He can win you games by scoring goals, by scoring individual goals, scoring goals when you least expect it and also he can do it by sitting in.
“I have said, and I will say it again, he is the closest thing I have seen to Steven Gerrard in my time of watching the game, watching football. He can do the job that Stevie had done.
“He has got the ability, the agility, the strength, the quickness to do it, the passing ability, the range, so he is just going to get better, and I think that’s a major reason why Arsenal are where they are now.”
My View: Declan Rice could become world class
In my opinion, Arsenal and England international midfielder Declan Rice will become a world-class player in the coming years.
If Rice continues to progress and develop as he has done over the past few years, then I think that he will become a global star.
The 25-year-old is a very dynamic midfielder who can protect the back-four and can also drive the team forward.
Rice is only 25 now, so his best years are ahead of him. He looks like he is enjoying playing for Arsenal and is very passionate about the North London club.
The former West Ham star has made 39 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal so far this season. He has scored six goals and given seven assists in those games.
