Troy Deeney has said whether or not Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United could try to sign Bruno Fernandes from Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.
The former Watford striker is not a fan of how Fernandes is as captain of the Red Devils.
So, what has Troy Deeney said about Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes and Newcastle United? Let’s take a look.
Troy Deeney says Newcastle United won’t be interested in Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes
Well, Troy Deeney has been speaking about Manchester United attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes, and he does not think that Newcastle United would be interested in signing him in the summer transfer window.
The former Watford striker has said that he does not like Fernandes as a captain, noting that Arsenal playmaker Martin Odegaard is better in that role.
Deeney has claimed that if Manchester United made the £47 million (BBC Sport) Portugal international attacking midfielder available in the summer transfer window, then Newcastle would not bother signing him.

Deeney told The Sun: “I’m expecting a massive shake-up of the playing staff at United this summer and Fernandes will be one of the players the club will want to keep — but an incoming manager will surely be looking to appoint a new captain.
“The Portuguese is a very good player, if not a great one. When I played against him, he wasn’t one of those opposition players that our manager would spend a matchday-minus-one analysis session instructing us on how to stop him.
“If United made him available, I don’t see City or Liverpool or even Newcastle coming in for him. But he is a fine creative player, with good set-piece delivery and the ability to shoot from range. His goals and assists stats are good.”
My View: Newcastle United would love to sign Bruno Fernandes
In my view, Newcastle United would love to sign Bruno Fernandes if Manchester United made him available in the summer transfer window.
Fernandes gets a lot of bad press for his antics and demeanour, but he is a very creative player who has been a success in the Premier League.
The 29-year-old has scored 47 goals and given 38 assists in 149 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
Fernandes is playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world and has done well for them, and I think that Newcastle would love to have a player of his calibre and experience.
