Liverpool secured the Carabao Cup 2024 title – with a squad of ridiculously young talent on the pitch.

Jurgen Klopp‘s final season in charge at the helm of Liverpool has already been a success, with his side defeating Mauricio Pochettino‘s at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final. It was a well-contested game, that was separated by a Virgil van Dijk header in the dying embers of extra time.

Despite the veteran captain stepping up with the goal, credit also has to be given to the plethora of young talent on the pitch for Liverpool. They were forced into playing ‘Klopp’s kids’ after a sea of unfortunate injuries to key first-team squad members.

So just who are they? Let HITC Football introduce you to Klopp’s kids.

Connor Bradley was well known by Premier League fans heading into this final – with the young full-back featuring prominently for Liverpool over the past few months.

Described on Liverpool’s website as a ‘talented and versatile player’, he featured mainly as a right-back for Liverpool’s youth teams and graduated to the senior set-up this season where he’s stepped up in Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s absence.

He excelled again in the final, even featuring for a good while at right-wing due to injury woes.

Harvey Elliott

Harvey Elliott has been featured in Klopp’s setup since his debut in September 2019 against MK Dons in the Carabao Cup.

He also has an extensive history with the tournament, rising through Fulham’s youth ranks, in 2018 he became the youngest player to play in the EFL Cup – aged just 15 years old.

Now, six years on – he’s got a winners medal with the Reds. A great story.

Bobby Clark joined Liverpool FC from Newcastle United in August 2021 and signed his first professional contract with the club in February 2022.

Described on Liverpool’s website as ‘an attacking player who can play anywhere across the forward line and in midfield, he started Academy life with the U18s squad.

He made his debut for Liverpool against Bournemouth in the infamous 9-0 romping back in August 2022.

James McConnell is a midfielder who has featured for Liverpool at senior level after emerging through the ranks at the club’s Academy.

He made his senior debut as a substitute against Toulouse at Anfield in October 2023. Three months later, McConnell sealed a fresh long-term contract with Liverpool.

He looked calm and composed in the final – definitely one to watch for the future.

Jayden Danns is a versatile player who first came to Liverpool’s Academy at the age of eight. He can play in attack or in midfield.

The Scouser is the son of well-known midfielder Neil Danns, who played for the likes of Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Bolton Wanderers. He is now the manager of Tranmere.

He was the youngest of all of Klopp’s kids – but didn’t look fazed whatsoever on the Wembley turf.

He made his debut for Liverpool in August 2023, coming on as a substitute in the 2-1 comeback win at Newcastle United.

Rounding off the final member of Klopp’s kids, he came on for 15 minutes in extra time and barely put a foot wrong during the EFL Cup win.
