Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe has decided to leave the club this summer with Real Madrid in the lead for his signature.
HITC Football understands that Kylian Mbappe has now told Paris Saint-Germain that he is leaving the French capital this summer.
Mbappe’s contract ends this summer and he has now informed PSG that he has no plans to sign a new deal.
We understand that Spanish giants Real Madrid are set to conclude a deal as talks over a pre-contract agreement are continuing.
Liverpool and Manchester City have been keeping tabs on the situation, but HITC understands that they have not held talks and both clubs, as they always have, believe he is joining Madrid.
Kylian Mbappe at PSG: the numbers
PSG swooped to sign Mbappe from Monaco in 2017, initially striking a loan deal before making the move permanent for around £166million.
The Frenchman had become a superstar as a teenager with Monaco, dazzling in the Champions League and winning a Ligue 1 title.
Now 25, Mbappe is one of the world’s truly elite players and he has racked up the goals in France.
Now boasting a ridiculous record of 168 goals in 195 league games for PSG, Mbappe has also added 33 goals in 24 Coupe de France outings.
Mbappe has also smashed 38 goals in 59 Champions League games, taking his total record for PSG to 243 goals in 290 games.
There will be plenty more goals to come before the summer but this now looks to be Mbappe’s final season in Ligue 1.
Real Madrid poised to add another superstar
We are used to seeing Real sign big players as part of their ‘Galacticos’ tag and Mbappe fits that bill.
The prospect of Mbappe joining the likes of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo is a terrifying one.
Real haven’t got this deal over the line yet but Mbappe’s decision to leave PSG leaves Real in the box seat to secure his signature.
PSG’s plans with Mbappe leaving
HITC Football understands that PSG do feel fairly comfortable in attack despite Mbappe’s exit.
The French trio of Bradley Barcola, Randal Kolo Muani and Ousmane Dembele could form PSG’s attack for years to come.
Still, PSG will be looking at potential additions with Mbappe leaving and we understand that AC Milan ace Rafael Leao is a name on the radar.
PSG also still like Mbappe’s former Monaco teammate Bernardo Silva, viewing the Manchester City ace as a potential signing.
Silva wouldn’t replace Mbappe’s goal but could add some creativity as PSG look towards a post-Mbappe era.
