Nile Ranger has told Tottenham Hotspur-owned defender Djed Spence to ‘fix up’ after he had a loan spell to forget at Leeds United.

In the summer, after hardly featuring at Spurs last season, he secured a loan move to relegated Leeds United, but he was sent back to his parent club in next to no time.

Reports were coming out that Djed Spence ‘turned up late’ to a meeting with manager Daniel Farke, where he was going to discuss his performances, attitude and punctuality.

That then resulted in Leeds sending him back to Tottenham, with the 23-year-old then being pushed back on loan again, this time to Italy where he has joined Genoa.

When former Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger heard about this, he urged the player to ‘fix up’, as he posted in the comments section of Sportbible’s Instagram post.

The 32-year-old was a Premier League footballer back in 2013, but in less than seven years, he found himself in non-league football and his career on the biggest of declines.

Off-field issues played a huge part in that, so he is probably best placed to give Djed Spence, who is still at the start of his career, some much-needed advice.

“Fix up lad, ASAP… Trust me, I know,” said Ranger

Djed Spence’s rise and fall…

It wasn’t so long ago that the forward-thinking fullback was winning promotion to the Premier League, whilst on-loan at Nottingham Forest from Middlesbrough.

That resulted in Champions League Spurs signing him up for £20 million, but he played a few minutes here and there before being loaned out to France within six months.

That road then led him straight to Elland Road in the summer, back to Hotspur Way in the winter and now a trip to Italy.

It’s pretty clear, if Spence continues to go down this road, then his career will only end in one way and that’s further and further down the leagues.
