Craig Burley thinks it’s high time Marcus Rashford left Manchester United.
The 26-year-old was absent from Manchester United’s FA Cup win over Newport County on Sunday.
Manager Erik ten Hag stated that the reason why Marcus Rashford didn’t play was because it’s an ‘internal matter’, with suggestions he reported ill for training after a nightclub visit.
Former Scotland international Craig Burley thinks Marcus Rashford is ‘one of the most talented players in English football’, as he told ESPN.
But he thinks that he is just throwing his career away at Manchester United, despite having so much quality in his boots.
Last season, the all-action forward bagged himself 30 goals in all competitions for Erik ten Hag, but during this campaign, he has only netted four.
It’s another season where the levels have dropped from the England international and there can’t be any excuses now.
Whilst Craig Burley doesn’t exactly rate Erik ten Hag, he thinks there are too many ‘bad apples’ in the Old Trafford dressing room and thinks players like Marcus Rashford need to leave, or else, nothing will change.
Marcus Rashford absent for Manchester United
“Here we have one of the most talented players in English football,” said Burley. “Coming off his best season last year, where he was brilliant, scoring goals for fun and working hard.
“Why would he not want to take that forward? All the great Man United players, and I have played against a lot of them, when they have a great season, they want the next one to be better. It can’t always be the case, but they strive for it. Strive to be better than next year than they were the previous year.
“He has got his new contract. This isn’t just on this (the latest Rashford issue). This has been all year. It’s about the big picture. He has got his new deal and he has basically chucked it. Switched off. You only have to watch his performances as a general rule of thumb.
“Lack of workrate. Lack of end product and lack of interest. If this is the case again that he is hot-footing it again to nightclubs, then doing whatever he shouldn’t be doing. Then phoning in ill. You can’t play him! Erik ten Hag can’t play him because he can’t trust him.
“Marcus Rashford, man! Have a look at yourself in the mirror. You have got a career in front of you. Don’t throw it away – this attitude from bad apples, until they get them out of this football club, it’s not going to change.”

Marcus Rashford’s performances
The fact of the matter is that Rashford is going to be judged the most by what he does out on that pitch.
And, as of this moment, the £300k-a-week star is producing pure rubbish!
He doesn’t have any excuses for his levels dropping because this has happened before under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and it’s happening again now.
Euro 2024 is around the corner, and the form Rashford is in, he would be very lucky to get a ticket to Germany because his performances don’t deserve it.
