- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Former Celtic and current Al-Ittihad winger Jota is hoping for a move to the Premier League this month, HITC Football understands.
Since moving to the Middle East, Jota has struggled hugely and it now seems the Portuguese winger is looking to end his Saudi Arabian nightmare at Al-Ittihad and several clubs are in contact.
Jota joined the Pro League outfit last summer in a £25m deal from Celtic, but he was never included in their squad for the league campaign and talks have been ongoing over his exit.
He has been linked with a move to a different side in the Saudi Pro League but it is our understanding that a move to Europe appeals to the player more.

Tottenham interest
HITC Football understands that Ange Postecoglou is an admirer of the Portuguese winger but Tottenham Hotspur opted for Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig instead, although if Jota does become available, they could yet be an interested party.
During Jota’s time at Celtic, the man who managed the Portuguese star was Postecoglou, who is now doing great things at Tottenham.
Spurs’ new signing Werner made his debut for the Lilywhites during the 2-2 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford but struggled to perform on the big stage, although it is early days in his Spurs career.
Other clubs believed to be interested in Jota
West Ham United have spoken about a possible deal, whilst HITC understands the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion, Everton and Newcastle United have also had conversations as Jota’s future will be decided in the coming week.
There is also interest in his native Portugal and France, but it is believed a move to England, and indeed the Premier League, is his current priority, as things stand.
Since moving to the Middle Eastern club in the summer from Celtic, the winger has played just 11 games for the Saudi Pro League and has scored just twice.
Jota could follow in Karim Benzema’s shoes as HITC Football have reported that the Frenchman is set to hold talks with Al-Ittihad to sort out his future at the club.
