Chelsea booked their ticket for the League Cup final on Tuesday by outclassing Championship side Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge.

The pressure was on Mauricio Pochettino going into the second-leg game after losing the first-leg 1-0, but his team delivered the goods in fine style by putting six goals on the board.

99% of Chelsea players could hold their heads high after that performance, well, apart from Mykhailo Mudryk.

Craig Burley just wasn’t impressed by the 23-year-old’s performance yesterday by making it clear that ‘I don’t trust him at all’, as he told ESPN.

Mykhailo Mudryk only played 45 minutes against Boro, before being hooked off by his manager and replaced by Noni Madueke.

The big-money Chelsea signing was on a yellow card, added to the fact that it just wasn’t happening for him, even though his team scored four first-half goals.

Craig Burley expressed the issues in his game and how he is constantly making bad calls and trying to do everything at ‘100 miles-per hour’, before being asked if he should start against Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Friday night.

Mykhailo Mudryk against Middlesbrough

“I don’t trust Mudryk, at all,” said Burley about if he should start against Villa. “I think what he does most of the time is a head-scratcher. He wants to do everything at 100 miles per hour, so I don’t really trust that.

“He makes too many bad decisions to be in this Chelsea side. Whether it’s without the ball or with the ball. His decision-making is poor – Mudryk is going to have to sharpen up. He is unreliable.”

Chelsea v Aston Villa

It was previously pointed out that this next week or so is massive for Pochettino and his long-term stability at the club.

There could have been every chance that his side could have been booted out of two competitions in the space of a week.

But with the final ticket booked for Wembley, the Chelsea players will now be really upbeat when they face Aston Villa in the FA Cup Fourth Round on Friday night.

Unai Emery’s side have won their past two meetings at Stamford Bridge, most recently in September when Ollie Watkins hit the winner.

This isn’t going to be easy, but if Chelsea can progress here, then the fans will start to believe that they are turning a corner.
