Rio Ferdinand has now started to have a differing opinion of Tottenham Hotspur right-back, Pedro Porro.
This time last January, Spurs were doing everything in their power to appease Antonio Conte by signing the Sporting Lisbon star.
Daniel Levy provided the then-Tottenham boss with what he wanted and Pedro Porro was through the doors.
But within an instant, the likes of Tim Sherwood were absolutely mauling him for his inability to defend. It was a tough start to life in the Premier League.
Rio Ferdinand admitted that he was also one of those players who thought Pedro Porro was just a ‘horrendous’ player, as he told Vibe with Five.
But, under the stewardship of Ange Postecoglou, he thinks the £39 million signing has now completely transformed and is ‘unreal’.
That’s a prime example of an attack-minded fullback being used in a system that suits his style of play down to a tee.
Pedro Porro’s transformation at Tottenham
“Udogie and Porro, the way the manager has improved these two,” said Ferdinand.
“Porro, I was canning him last year. How have they paid that money for him? He was horrendous last year.
“A new manager comes in, sets him up and he is a new player. It’s unreal. Almost like a bargain. They are probably the two in-form fullbacks, as a pair, in the Premier League right now.
“Porro is dribbling out all sorts under pressure.”

Tottenham’s fullbacks
In the modern game, the fullbacks are asked to play a unique role, which wasn’t the norm 20 years ago.
But the job asked of Destiny Udogie and Porro is exciting on the eye and very enjoyable to take part in for those players.
Certainly for Porro, in comparison to what Conte was asking him to do last season, it’s night and day.
But still, alongside many other players at Hotspur Way, he is another player who has improved tremendously under Postecoglou.
