Chelsea have made a fresh move to sign 16-year-old Brazilian gem Willian Estevao from Palmeiras but will face competition.

HITC Football understands that Chelsea has made a fresh attempt to try and strike a deal with Palmeiras for teenager starlet Willian Estevao – but the Brazilian outfit is not in a hurry to strike a deal.

Estevao is the latest product of the famed Palmeiras academy which is currently regarded as one of the best in South America. Estevao’s team-mate Endrick is en route to Real Madrid this summer.

The Palmeiras academy is a hotbed for talent right now and Chelsea are keen to grab their slice of what could be a golden generation for Brazil.

Chelsea keen to avoid missing out on another Brazilian starlet

Chelsea have been tracking Estevao, and his team-mate Luis Guilherme, for much of the past 12 months and they are keen to secure his signature ahead of their European rivals.

The Blues lost out to Real Madrid for Endrick, but they are eager not to lose out this time and sources have told HITC that they have made a fresh move via intermediaries this month to try and strike a deal – which would, because of his age, see him move to London in 2025.

Palmeiras are set to earn around €70m (£60.2m) from Endrick deal. They want a similar amount for Estevao – however, HITC has been told that the Brazilian club are not in a hurry to agree to terms with Chelsea – they want others to come to the table so that they can land the biggest deal possible.

Chelsea encounter hurdles in Estevao deal

Despite Chelsea’s eagerness to enter discussions for a deal, they could encounter a few problems in their bid to acquire the 16-year-old whizkid.

Firstly, competition for Estevao could be fierce as Arsenal, Man City, Man United and PSG have also been following Estevao, while Barcelona and Real Madrid have also held talks with his people and Palmeiras is aware of this.

On the other hand, Estevao is also not in a rush to make the jump to Europe as he aims to choose the move which is best for him.

Sources also say Estevao is ready to wait and see what offers arrive before deciding on his future, so whilst Chelsea looks for a deal this month – it looks unlikely to happen.
