Rapid Vienna cannot rule out selling Nicolas Kuhn to Celtic with the club’s managing director of sport admitting that ‘every player has his price’.
And Nicolas Kuhn’s price, it seems, lies somewhere in the region of £2 million.
Celtic have been scouting the one-time Ajax and Bayern Munich winger of late. Kuhn might not have made the grade at the Johan Cruyff Arena or the Bundesliga champions but, at the age of 24, he is at least making good on his undoubted potential across the German border in Austria (Scottish Sun).
An old-school dribbler once likened to Bayern’s own Kinglsey Coman, Kuhn has seven assists to his name this season already while cutting in onto his left foot from the ring to often devastating effect.

The former Germany under 20 international would be very well received at a Celtic side who will lose Daizan Maeda and Oh Hyeon-Gyu to the Asian Cup. Marco Tilio and Yang Hyun-Jun may have been offered the chance to step up in the absence of Maeda and co, but are instead due jet out to feature for Austria and South Korea respectively.
Markus Katzer, Rapid’s managing director of sport, is confident of retaining Kuhn’s services beyond the winter window. But he does admit that ‘every player has his price’, with Rapid’s number ten no different.
“I assume that everyone will be with us in the second half of the season. I haven’t heard anything to the contrary,” Katzer tells Sky Austria.
“(But) every player has his price. If the offer is right, of course you have to deal with it.”
Rodgers has already admitted that a spate of absences during the Asian Cup could force Celtic into the market. The surprise omission of Kyogo Furuhashi from the Japan squad does, at least, go some way to easing those concerns.
Rodgers wants attacking additions
“Obviously we have been trying to anticipate the guys over the last few months who are going away to the Asian Cup,” Rodgers said in December. “So clearly if Daizen and Kyogo are away, then we would have to do something in the market.”
Celtic like Ecuadorian midfielder Oscar Zambrano, but look likely to miss out. HITC understands that Bournemouth are leading the race for a potential £5.5 million deal. The Scottish champions are also eyeing up Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland, HITC has been informed.
