Declan Rice has been a breath of fresh air for Arsenal since his summer transfer from West Ham United.
What’s been impressive about the £100 million midfielder is how important he is proving to be for Mikel Arteta’s side, even though he has been at Arsenal for a matter of months.
Game after game, it seems as though Declan Rice is, not only just putting up stellar performances, but Man of the Match displays.
That has led to some claiming that the 24-year-old is a ‘bargain’ at £100 million, but it’s something Ally McCoist totally disagreed with, as he told talkSPORT (18/12/23 at 9:10 am).
The former Scotland star stated he ‘wouldn’t go that far’ by putting that label on Declan Rice, even though he is growing and growing by the week.
One thing is for sure, not many are now questioning why Arsenal paid so much money for him and it’s understandable as to why Mikel Arteta did push the boat out.
Declan Rice’s transfer fee
“Declan Rice, somebody put one of the questions up there, ‘is he a bargain at £100 million?’ I wouldn’t go that far!” responded McCoist.
“I certainly wouldn’t go that far. I wouldn’t see anyone as a bargain at £100 million.
“But he has fitted into the team exactly the way Arteta would have hoped and a lot of people thought he would.”

Can Declan Rice guide Arsenal to the Premier League title?
As things stand, Arsenal are on track as they sit at the top of the Premier League table.
But Arteta knows that the toughest moments of the season are around the corner and that’s where Rice needs to stick his chest out.
In truth, he wasn’t brought in to do what he is doing now. Arsenal were in this situation last season.
The England international was signed to drag the team over the line when those real crunch moments arrive.
