Pundit Jamie Carragher has branded Liverpool playmaker Dominik Szoboszlai ‘poor’ following his performance against Manchester United.
Liverpool were widely expected to hammer Manchester United this afternoon given the respective form of the two sides.
The Reds are chasing a Premier League title this season whilst United have been lurching from one disaster to another.
United battled away though and managed to grind out a 0-0 draw, withstanding major pressure to come away with a point.
Liverpool created a host of chances but just couldn’t take any of them, leaving fans a little frustrated.
Jamie Carragher comments on Dominik Szoboszlai display for Liverpool
A number of Liverpool players just weren’t quite at their best – and playmaker Dominik Szoboszlai was one of them.
We have already come to expect so much from the Hungarian international just months into his Liverpool career.
The £60million summer signing from RB Leipzig has made a huge impact since arriving at Anfield, quickly becoming a fan favourite.
Usually a consistent source of shots from range and key passes in the final third, Szoboszlai just wasn’t at it against United.
Jurgen Klopp decided to substitute Szoboszlai in the second half, leading to Gary Neville asking Jamie Carragher whether he was surprised by the decision.

Carragher told Sky Sports (17/12, 17:49) that he wasn’t surprised, simply because Szoboszlai has been ‘poor’ against United.
Carragher added that his one hesitation over the substitution was that Szoboszlai was making runs around Sofyan Amrabat, which the United man was struggling to handle.
“He’s been poor, the one thing I’d say is he’s got the running power to trouble Amrabat, but that’s not going to happen now,” said Carragher.
Every player has their off days and this was one of them for Szoboszlai.
The 23-year-old has shown his quality regularly since joining Liverpool and we will surely see him back to his best soon.
Liverpool didn’t exactly improve after he went off either, struggling to find fluency in the final third.
Szoboszlai’s first taste of the Liverpool v United rivalry wasn’t as he would have dreamed but their struggles without him on the pitch may just leave Klopp to consider if he made an error.
