Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has praised teammate Kai Havertz as ‘amazing’ following today’s 2-0 home win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Arsenal have taken full advantage of Manchester City dropping more points this weekend.

City drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace on Saturday and Arsenal responded with a 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring after the half-time break but were struggling to find a second to kill the game off.

Kai Havertz duly obliged late on, firing home number two to give Arsenal yet another home win.

Havertz joined Arsenal from Chelsea in a big-money move over the summer, leaving many to raise their eyebrows.

The German hadn’t really found his top form in West London yet Arsenal still struck a deal worth around £65million.

Mikel Arteta decided to deploy Havertz as an attack-minded number eight, allowing him to break into the box.

The 24-year-old really appears to be thriving now, with today’s goal against Brighton the fourth time he has found the net in the last seven games.

Havertz scored big goals against Brentford and Luton Town, with today’s goal ultimately killing the game off and handing Arsenal all three points.

Gabriel Jesus has now moved to praise Havertz having witnessed another strong performance from the former Chelsea man.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Jesus noted that he jokes with Havertz about the 2021 Champions League final.

Havertz scored the winner to beat Jesus and Manchester City on that day but the Brazilian now wants to win it with Havertz and another ex-Chelsea man in Jorginho.

Jesus then praised Havertz as an ‘amazing’ player, highlighting his strength and height as well as the running he does for the Arsenal team.

“We always joke that he won a Champions League against me and I want to win one with him and Jorginho as well,” said Jesus. “He’s an amazing player, the way he plays, he’s so strong, tall, and then his quality… he helps us a lot. He’s fighting every time and helping the team, the way this guy runs is massive so yeah, we are very happy we have him,” he added.

Havertz is a man in form right now and with a busy festive period coming, Arteta and Arsenal fans will be looking for that to continue.
