Liverpool star Harvey Elliott has received a message from Jordan Henderson following Saturday’s hard-fought win over Crystal Palace.

The Reds were heavy favourites at Selhurst Park but fell behind with Jean-Philippe Mateta firing Palace ahead from the penalty spot.

Palace then had Jordan Ayew sent off, paving the way for a big finish from Liverpool after Mohamed Salah drew Jurgen Klopp’s side level.

Harvey Elliott went and won it in injury time, driving forward before firing a left-footed strike beyond substitute goalkeeper Remi Matthews.

Liverpool would have seriously kicked themselves if they had failed to win this one and whilst it wasn’t a vintage performance, they just about got the job done.

Elliott came off the bench to win the game for Liverpool, producing a moment of outstanding quality to seal all three points.

Still only 20, Elliott has been a Liverpool player for more than four years now and is looking to really kick on this term.

Those aspirations weren’t exactly helped by Liverpool signing four midfielders over the summer with Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch all arriving.

Elliott at least showed his quality on Saturday and took to Instagram to celebrate his role in a big victory.

Elliott stated ‘This team. This club. These fans!’ as he and all connected with Liverpool celebrated in style.

The likes of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Caoimhin Kelleher and Cody Gakpo all sent messages of support to Elliott after his goal.

There was even a message from Jordan Henderson, who left Liverpool for a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Ettifaq over the summer.

Henderson stated ‘mentality monsters’, praising his former teammate Elliott – and the rest of the Liverpool squad – for a victory in never-say-die circumstances.

Henderson may be off in the Middle East but he is clearly still keeping close tabs on Liverpool and their fortunes this season.

Elliott will be delighted with his goal and will look to kick on – possibly putting himself in late contention for the England Euro 2024 squad alongside Henderson.
