Arsenal have an interest in Borussia Dortmund forward Donyell Malen more than six years since allowing him to leave North London.

The Gunners are pushing for a Premier League title this season and Mikel Arteta may want an attacking signing.

Gabriel Jesus blows hot and cold with his finishing whilst questions remain over Eddie Nketiah’s suitability as a top Premier League striker.

The likes of Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen have been mentioned but Arteta could actually look at an attacker Arsenal let go in 2017…

Arsenal appreciate Borussia Dortmund attacker Donyell Malen

90min now report that Arsenal – alongside Premier League rivals Liverpool – appreciate the talents of Borussia Dortmund attacker Donyell Malen.

There have been rumours of talks surrounding a swap deal with Malen heading to Manchester United in exchange for Jadon Sancho.

That has been played down by 90min, but they believe that Arsenal and Liverpool have an interest.

Malen has only started nine Bundesliga games this season but has featured prominently in the Champions League.

The 24-year-old has bagged four goals this season but recently went on a goalless run of 15 games for club and country.

Arsene Wenger let Malen leave Arsenal

Arsenal may be attracted to Malen given his versatility.

The Dutchman can play up front or out wide, offering competition for both Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka.

Malen also has serious pace and has been described as ‘extremely fast’ by Mario Gotze.

If Arsenal move for Malen, it would be a return to North London having actually joined Arsenal from Ajax back in 2015.

Malen was on the move just two years later though as he returned to the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven.

Arsene Wenger never gave Malen a first-team chance and sanctioned his departure at the age of just 18.

Arsenal claim they sold Malen for £750,000 but some sources in the Netherlands believe that the price was actually just £200,000.

Either way, Malen would cost much more now having become a star with PSV, smashing 55 goals in 116 games.

Malen has been a little inconsistent with Dortmund but Arsenal are seemingly still keeping close tabs on him.
