Michael Owen has warned Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur ‘you just can’t’ go toe-to-toe with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
It has been evident how Tottenham, under their new manager, want to play. No matter who the opponent is.
Whether Spurs are at their strongest, down to nine men or injuries galore. They haven’t changed under Ange Postecoglou and he has made it clear that won’t change at the Etihad, as he told his pre-match press conference.
But former England striker Michael Owen feels that against Treble-winners Manchester City, it’s a different ball game altogether, as he told Premier League Productions (03/12/23 at 1:05 pm).
The record of Man City speaks for itself, they are dominating domestic football and Europe, for a reason.
Whilst Tottenham fans have watched their team play without fear, style and on the front foot. They haven’t stopped conceding big chances.
And Michael Owen thinks, if they don’t change their ways against Man City, then everyone could be in for a possible record-breaking day, in terms of goals scored.
Will Tottenham change their style at Man City?
“The noises coming out of Tottenham or what you are hearing is that he (Postecoglou) is going to go toe-toe,” said Owen.
“You can’t do that. You just can’t. You can’t play Man City at their own game. You just can’t. I think this could be one of the most entertaining games in Premier League history. I can see any amount of goals in this game. What’s the record?”

Ange Postecoglou should continue playing an attacking style
Stick to your guns and don’t back down. Otherwise, what’s the point of playing the game?
For several years, Spurs fans moaned about the defensive style in which their previous managers deployed.
Well, one thing is for sure, they won’t be moaning about how Ange is going about things, even if it means taking a few beatings here and there.
