Nathan Ake says he understands the ‘tough’ fixture awaiting Manchester City this Sunday when they lock horns with Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur.
The Manchester City defender assisted Erling Haaland for his record-breaking 50th Premier League goal on Saturday against Liverpool – and now Spurs will be the next target.
Of course, Pep Guardiola’s side have a Champions League game to deal with in midweek, but they have already qualified, so expect changes all round.
The Treble winners are facing Tottenham at a really good time because, after leading the table after ten Premier League matches, they have now lost three in a row – their latest defeat to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.
Nathan Ake highlighted Tottenham’s injury problems, but he still feels that they are showing that they can cause ‘a lot of teams problems’, as he told Premier League Productions (25/11/23 at 2:50 pm).
The likes of Micky van de Ven and James Maddison will certainly miss the Man City clash, plus some more this year, but the suspended duo Crisitian Romero and Yves Bissouma will be expected to return to the starting fold.
Ake on Tottenham
“It will be difficult again,” said Ake about facing Spurs. “We have some very tough fixtures in a row. We play at home. We are always confident here.
“We know it’s going to be tough, even though they have got a few injuries. They are still causing a lot of teams problems, so we have to be ready for that.”

Big test for Tottenham
You just know that Ange Postecoglou is going to go one way and one way only against this Man City side.
If everyone was fit, you would back this to be a really, really good game. But this is where Spurs could end up taking a big beating.
They never took their chances against Aston Villa and got punished – Villa’s official social account proceeded to mock Spurs after the match.
If they go down the same road against Man City, then they will rip them apart.
