Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has praised Ange Postecoglou after beating his Tottenham Hotspur side 2-1 this afternoon.
Ange Postecoglou is doing ‘amazing’ thing at Tottenham Hotspur following his summer move from Celtic.
That is the verdict of Aston Villa boss Unai Emery, who has been speaking to Birmingham World after seeing Villa beat Tottenham 2-1.
Emery saw his side go behind as Giovani Lo Celso – a player Emery coached at Paris Saint-Germain and Villarreal – fired Tottenham in front.
Villa hit back through Pau Torres before Ollie Watkins found the winner in the second half, completing the comeback.
Unai Emery praises Ange Postecoglou after beating his Tottenham side
When the full-time whistle blew, we saw Emery and Postecoglou exchange a warm embrace and a few pleasantries.
It looked like Emery was speaking very positively about Postecoglou and Tottenham after an entertaining clash.
Despite missing a host of players through injury, Tottenham continued to play an exciting and attacking brand of football.
That created plenty of chances but also left the door ajar at the back, with Villa eventually finding the winning goal.
Emery has now been asked about the exchange with Postecoglou and told Birmingham World that he was full of praise for the Spurs boss.
Emery noted that he really appreciates seeing managers do different things, believing Postecoglou is bringing real tactical innovation to the Premier League.
The Spaniard added that he thinks Postecoglou is ‘amazing’ for Tottenham but has also impressed around the world, hailing the work the Spurs boss has been doing.
“In football, when someone is coming in and adding tactically different ways, or tactically showing something in a really successful way, I appreciate it,” said Emery.
“As well, I usually want to analyse and understand. Ange is doing very good work, he’s amazing here. He did as well at Celtic and in Japan, Australia. I appreciate a lot the coaches when they’re doing something like he’s doing,” he added.

Tottenham run shouldn’t take shine off Postecoglou start
Postecoglou took Tottenham to the top of the league earlier this season and the excitement really started to build.
Today’s result means it’s now three defeats in a row for Tottenham though and it’s Manchester City next up.
The dip in form is understandable; Tottenham have so many key players out right now and it’s hard to keep up that early-season form without top players.
Tottenham may just have to take the punches right now and come back stronger when some of those injured stars return.
Emery is right; Postecoglou is doing something really impressive at Tottenham and these defeats shouldn’t alter anybody’s opinion on the Australian.
