Tottenham Hotspur have been left angry after hearing Everton blaming them for their financial problems due to the Richarlison transfer.
Relations between Everton and Tottenham Hotspur now appear frayed after claims were made over Richarlison’s move to North London.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Tottenham are not happy with Everton’s claims.
The Toffees have been hit with an immediate 10-point deduction for financial breaches.
Everton will, of course, appeal that decision and will hope to get the ruling reversed as they now battle against relegation.
Tottenham Hotspur unhappy with Richarlison claims
One interesting note from the Premier League’s report on the situation was that Richarlison’s sale was a big factor in Everton’s problems.
Everton had budgeted to sell Richarlison for £80million, but it’s suggested that Tottenham took advantage of Everton’s financial issues to drive a ‘hard bargain’ at £60million.
Unsurprisingly, Tottenham have taken a rather dim view on those claims.
The Daily Mail claim that Tottenham see Everton’s stance as ‘absurd’ and the relationship between the two clubs may be damaged.
Everton felt that the £20million difference in valuation over Richarlison seriously damaged their financial situation, but the Premier League weren’t exactly sympathetic.
Tottenham note that Richarlison is still their club-record signing if all add-ons are met and feel that Everton could have sold other players after receiving a lower fee for the Brazilian.

Dele sadly caught in the crossfire
Everton may be upset but there have been many, many cases of clubs benefiting from other teams struggling financially.
Tottenham don’t appear to have really done much wrong here but we fear for Dele.
The report notes that Everton and Tottenham recently held talks about restructuring the deal which saw Dele join the Toffees in 2022.
Everton must pay Tottenham £10million if Dele plays seven more games, a fee Everton are struggling to pay and means Dele is sat on the sidelines.
Spurs want to do right by their former player but the relationship between the two clubs may now deteriorate and impact Dele’s future.
That’s a sad state of affairs; Dele has been through so much in recent years and we just want to see him given a chance to shine again.
Let’s hope some kind of agreement can be thrashed out and Dele can get back to playing soon, as seen him impacted by this feud would be sad.
