Arsenal are interested in a move for Al Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves – but Newcastle United owners PIF could yet scupper the move.
Ruben Neves is wanted by Arsenal as Edu looks to bring a new midfielder to the Emirates Stadium in January.
Neves only left the Premier League in June, completing a £47million move from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Al Hilal.
Many were disappointed to see Neves move to Saudi Arabia, believing that the 26-year-old had so much more to offer at a higher level.
Just a few months on, Neves may well be in line for a Premier League return with Arsenal interested.
Arsenal keen on signing Ruben Neves
TalkSPORT report that Arsenal are keen to hijack Newcastle United’s move to sign Neves.
Premier League clubs will soon vote on whether to ban incoming loan signings from partner clubs.
Neves is pretty much the key example, given that Newcastle want to sign him to cover for Sandro Tonali’s suspension.
Al Hilal are owned by PIF, just like Newcastle, and Premier League clubs seemingly want to block such moves.
Arsenal are now keen to swoop in but PIF may yet scupper that move.
90Min note that it’s unclear whether PIF would really allow Neves to join a Premier League rival on loan if they vote to block a Newcastle move.
That leaves Arsenal’s Neves hopes in the balance, even with Edu thought to be a huge fan of the Portuguese international.

Arsenal have long-standing Neves interest
Reports from the Daily Mail back in May suggested that Arsenal were battling Barcelona and Newcastle United for Neves.
The Daily Mail also claimed in the summer of 2022 that Arsenal were keen on a huge £70million deal.
Neves instead ended up in Saudi Arabia but Arsenal seemingly haven’t forgotten about him and will now explore a January move.
Thomas Partey’s continued injury problems mean Arsenal are in the market for another midfielder and Neves could be their man given his Premier League experience.
Hailed as ‘sensational’ by Gary Neville in 2022, Neves has bags of quality and an outstanding passing range, but it will all rest on whether PIF decide to do a deal.
