Garth Crooks has included Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon in his Premier League Team of the Week for his performance against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at St. James’ Park.
The former Tottenham Hotspur forward has added that Anthony Gordon is made for Newcastle United.
The BBC Sport pundit believes that Gordon made the right decision to leave Everton for Newcastle.
The 22-year-old winger moved to Newcastle from Everton in January 2023 for £45 million.
Gordon did not make the best of starts at St. James’ Park, but this season he has exploded and is flourishing under manager Eddie Howe.
The English youngster has made nine starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League this season.
The Newcastle no. 10 has scored four goals and given two assists in those games.
Garth Crooks praises Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon vs Arsenal
The winger scored the only goal in the Premier League match between Newcastle and Arsenal at St. James’ Park this past season.
The Magpies won 1-0.
It was a very controversial goal.
Crooks told BBC Sport: “There are times when a player moves to a club, and you know within a couple of games whether he has made the right choice.

“Willian’s move from Chelsea to Arsenal, for example, simply didn’t work. Neither has Jadon Sancho’s transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United.
“Conversely, you get some players who join clubs and you would think they were made for that team. Anthony Gordon’s move from Everton to Newcastle United appears to be one of them.
“He was outstanding at Manchester United in the League Cup in midweek and equally impressive against Arsenal at St James’ Park, regardless of what you thought of the decisions made by the officials. You cannot blame Gordon for that.”
My View: Anthony Gordon will get better
I believe that Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon will get better.
Gordon is only 22 now and has a lot of potential.
In my opinion, under Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, the winger will add more facets to his game and will develop further.
I believe that at some point in the coming years, Gordon will make his England debut as well.
Gordon has made 91 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
The winger has scored 12 goals and given five assists in those games.
