Luis Diaz is going through a really difficult period in his life right now, but the Colombia international winger still played for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool against Luton Town this past weekend.
Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw with Luton Town away from home in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
Luis Diaz scored for the Reds late into injury time.
The 26-year-old Colombia international, who is one of Liverpool’s best players, found the back of the net with a header from Harvey Elliott’s cross.
It was the equaliser for Liverpool.
As reported by BBC Sport, Diaz’s father is missing after being kidnapped.
After scoring the goal against Luton, the 26-year-old winger lifted his shirt to show a message of “freedom for papa”.
Alan Shearer on Liverpool winger Luis Diaz
Newcastle United legend and BBC Sport pundit Alan Shearer feels for Diaz and has been left stunned by the fact that the winger actually played given the circumstances.
Shearer said on The Rest is Football podcast: “I don’t know how you could get your head around to actually go and play a game after what he has gone through or what he is going through.”
My View: Luis Diaz should be praised
I believe that we all should praise Liverpool and Colombia international winger Luis Diaz.
Just imagine going to work when your father is missing.
That is really really hard.

Just unimaginable really.
Not only did Diaz turn up ‘for work’ for Liverpool, but he also scored a brilliant header.
To stay focused on your job with thousands of people watching and what you are going through in your personal life is not easy.
Diaz has made eight starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool so far this season.
The winger has scored three goals in those games.
The Liverpool no. 7 has also scored one goal in one start and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Europa League.
