Aleksandr Golovin has been tipped to secure himself a move to Premier League giants Liverpool after making a stunning start to the French season at Monaco.
You know the transfer window is approaching when Aleksandr Golovin’s name returns to the gossip columns. And don’t be surprised to the see the Russia international’s future become a topic of much discussion once again in the coming weeks, particularly with Golovin on a run of five goals in 10 Ligue 1 games for title dark horses Monaco.
“’Golo’ is exceptional,” Monaco coach Adi Hutter told Get France Football News after the division’s most impressive attacking midfielder scored one and set up the other in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Brest.

“He really is in top form currently. He is a fantastic player and I hope that he will continue to be decisive. I think he can do even better. He is one of the best players in the league.”
Liverpool tipped to make Aleksandr Golovin move
Nikita Chernov, who worked with a younger Golovin at CSKA Moscow, feels his former team-mate can now afford to aim higher than a team sitting just two points off the Ligue 1 summit.
“He scored again. Let’s rejoice. I often ask him about this, he feels like a leader in Monaco. Sometimes, he comes out with the captain’s armband,” Chernov tells Sport24.
“Sasha is a fundamental player who decides a lot on the field. The number of goals and assists he has made in recent games proves this.
“In fact, I myself am ready to take Golovin to Liverpool. If he improves, he will go there. Not necessarily to Liverpool, but to any other team. He can play in the English or German championships, but it should still be his choice.”
Newcastle United have shown an interesst
Whether there is really a place in Liverpool XI right now for Golovin is, however, doubtful. Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and the increasingly-excellent Ryan Gravenberch would all consider themselves best suited to the sort of attacking number eight role the Russian is currently thriving in across the Channel.
A more fitting destination could, perhaps, be Newcastle United.
Golovin’s agent has confirmed that The Magpies have shown an interest in the past, though Newcastle may now be focusing on a more deep-lying option – such as Ruben Neves or Teun Koopmeiners – after losing Sandro Tonali to suspension.
