Fabrizio Romano believes that Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Andre Trindade amid reports suggesting the Fluminense midfielder has a ‘verbal agreement’ to join Premier League giants Liverpool in 2024.
A picture of calm amid the chaos, Andre Trindade’s stand-out display in a frantic, frenetic Copa Libertadores final will have done little to ease the expectations ahead of a potential big-money move to Anfield.
The Brazil international, labelled the stand-out defensive midfielder in the country, went about his business with typical poise and panache as Fluminense defeated Boca Juniors to be crowned the champions of South America for the very first time.

Liverpool could sign Fluminense’s Andre Trindade
BBC reporter Steven Wyeth, during the live coverage of football’s most explosive fixture, indicated that there may be a ‘verbal agreement’ in place to bring Andre to Liverpool. Potentially as early as January.
Romano, in his Caught Offside column, did not go that far. But this is most definitely a player with admirers in all corridors of Anfield. Including in the dugout.
“Liverpool keep tracking and following Andre, that’s for sure,” Romano explains. “He’s always been appreciated by people at the club including Jurgen Klopp.
“Still, until now, there is no update as the Copa Libertadores final is crucial for Andre. He didn’t want any distractions. This will be something to watch for the next months.”
Copa Libertadores champion
The Brazilian season ends in the coming weeks, meaning Fluminense are likely to open to offers in January. Liverpool reportedly submitted a £26 million bid a couple of months ago, Andre turning down the chance to leave his current employers in the middle of a gruelling campaign, even if the admiration between him and Klopp is very much mutual.
“I follow overseas games a bit and I know that (Liverpool’s) work is exceptional,” Andre tells AS. “Without a doubt, (Klopp) is a great coach. Very intelligent and successful.”
