Radu Dragusin’s agent has provided another update on the future of the Serie A centre-back with Newcastle United one of the clubs interested in bringing him to the Premier League.

Florin Manea doesn’t often miss a chance to explain just how coveted his highly-rated client may be. And, when contacted by Fanatik to provide an update on Radu Dragusin’s situation, the motor-mouthed agent was at it again.

Manea has already indicated that a number of Premier League clubs are in ‘advanced talks’ with the £26 million-rated Romania international. He told Calciomercato just last a few days ago, meanwhile, that Newcastle United have held ‘meetings’ regarding Dragusin’s potential availability at Genoa.

Now, in the latest edition of what is starting to feel like a weekly briefing, Manea has opted to lift the lid about his relationship with Dan Ashworth, the Newcastle sporting director he knows from the 52-year-old’s time at West Bromwich Albion.

Newcastle United in Radu Dragusin race

“The chief with whom I made (the transfer of Gabriel) at West Brom is now at Newcastle,” Manea explains. “We have known each other since 2009.

“(Ashworth’s Newcastle) are watching (Dragusin), but so are other big clubs in England. There’s no official offer yet, but it’s coming.”

Manea claimed in previous windows that Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace had shown an interest in the one-time Juventus starlet, with Newcastle long-time admirers. It is no secret that Eddie Howe wants a new, right-sided centre-half, and Dragusin therefore fits the bill.

Serie A outfit ‘want’ £25 million

“Genoa doesn’t want to sell him now but, in the summer, yes (they will let him go) if they get the price they want for him,” Manea adds.

“Genoa want 30 million euros. They said directly. I don’t think there is anyone in Italy who would pay this amount of 30 million euros.

“I talked about the Premier League, I talked about Newcastle. But they are not the only ones. There are several teams I am talking to.”
