Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has raved about the mentality of striker Eddie Nketiah after his hat-trick against Sheffield United.

Eddie Nketiah has a simply ‘incredible’ mentality to go alongside his talent in the Arsenal attack.

That is the verdict of Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, who has been speaking on the club’s official website.

Arteta watched on as Nketiah destroyed Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon, smashing a hat-trick.

Fabio Vieira and Takehiro Tomiyasu found the net late on too, handing Arsenal a convincing 5-0 victory over the Premier League’s bottom club.

Nketiah was given the starting spot up front with Gabriel Jesus now nursing yet another injury.

The 24-year-old responded with a superb performance and his first-ever Premier League hat-trick.

Arteta has now praised Nketiah, suggesting that he is ‘already really good’ and can become even better in the future.

Arteta added that Nketiah has a truly ‘incredible’ mentally to go alongside this talent.

The Arsenal boss believes that mentality is the best thing about Nketiah and it will ultimately help him improve.

“He’s already really good, he can be better,” said Arteta. “The best thing he’s got, along with the talent, is his mentality. It’s incredible. When he has that mentality and that talent, he’s going to get much better,” he added.

Nketiah ends goal drought in style

Nketiah will have loved scoring his first Premier League hat-trick but will have also been relieved to finally find the net again.

Nketiah opened the season with two goals in the first three Premier League games but hadn’t added to that tally before the Sheffield United clash.

Arteta saw Nketiah go nine games without a goal for Arsenal, albeit with some of those appearances coming as a substitute.

Some have doubted Nketiah, believing that he just isn’t good enough to really take Arsenal forward.

A hat-trick against Sheffield United won’t completely end those questions but the injury to Jesus gives Nketiah a real chance to build up some goalscoring momentum again.
