Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur got fans excited with a stunning goal in training at Hotspur Way.
Rodrigo Bentancur is ramping up his return to action and reminded fans of his quality in Tottenham Hotspur training.
This season has been an absolute dream for Ange Postecoglou so far, with Spurs sitting top of the Premier League table.
Tottenham are yet to lose a single Premier League game to date and fans have been loving the attacking brand of football.
The scary thing is that Tottenham may soon have a top player to add to the mix for the first time since Postecoglou’s arrival…
Rodrigo Bentancur scores a stunner in Tottenham training
Rodrigo Bentancur really seemed to kick on last season, scoring five times in 18 Premier League games before a crushing injury against Leicester City in February.
Spurs crumbled to a 4-1 defeat in that game and then won just six of the next 15 games to end the Premier League season.
Bentancur’s absence wasn’t the sole reason but he was certainly missed in midfield, possessing composure on the ball, the energy and frame to get from box-to-box and an eye for goal.
The Uruguayan is now eight months removed from his injury and will be coming back in the near future – barring any setbacks.
Bentancur seems to be ramping it up in training and Tottenham posted a video of him scoring an unbelievable goal in training on Wednesday.
The midfielder – signed in a deal worth up to £21.5million from Juventus last year – controlled a fizzed ball perfectly before quickly smashing the ball into the top corner.
Bentancur’s teammates went wild for that goal, with Emerson Royal and Alejo Veliz cheering and jumping all over him.
It seems pretty clear that Tottenham players are now seeing Bentancur getting back up to speed – and they can only hope to see him score a similar goal in a Premier League game soon.

My view: Easy to imagine Bentancur shining under Postecoglou
Postecoglou has settled on a first-choice midfield trio of Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison this season.
Others like Oliver Skipp, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso are in the mix too but Bentancur poses a real threat to breaking up that midfield three.
Bentancur appears to be such a good fit for Postecoglou’s style; he’s so good at carrying the ball, he can play intricate football around the box, he can get forward to score goals and he can certainly get stuck in alongside Bissouma.
Of course, Bentancur will need time and patience – it’s unlikely that he immediately hits top form when he does return.
If Bentancur can, at some point, get back to last season’s form, then Tottenham’s midfield will only get even better.
