Erik Lamela has told Tottenham Hotspur fans on Instagram ‘I miss you’.

The 31-year-old, who now plays for Spanish giants Sevilla, was reacting to the nine-year anniversary of his first Rabona goal for Tottenham.

It was an outrageous effort from the popular Spurs player from the edge of his own box and a goal still remembered by those in north London.

At the time, it was an example of the quality and trickery Erik Lamela had at his feet, but many feel that he just wasn’t able to produce that magic on a regular basis.

That’s why in 2021, Spurs, managed by Nuno Espirito Santo at the time, proceeded to sell Erik Lamela to Sevilla, with Bryan Gil going the other way.

And now, via his Instagram story on Monday morning, he posted the following message to the Spurs fans:

“9 years!” said Lamela. “I miss you @Spursofficial. Good luck tonight’.

Tottenham v Fulham

It seems as though Lamela will be watching on from afar as Spurs lock horns with their London rivals Fulham on Monday night.

You would expect Spurs to pick up maximum points here, and if they do, then they will return to the top of the Premier League table.

That’s incredible from Ange Postecoglou and Co, with Jermaine Beckford lauding the Spurs manager and centre-back Cristian Romero for no longer being a ‘hot head’.

From Tottenham’s style of play, the mood around the club and the new defensive structure that is being built.

Many things at the club, from top to bottom, are changing and Postecoglou deserves huge credit for how quickly he has turned it around.

When Lamela was at the club, Spurs were consistently finishing in the Champions League places and this new crop of players will be hoping the club can return to play against the elite after finishing out of Europe altogether last season.
