Jordan Pickford has admitted that Mohamed Salah got the better of him as Liverpool recorded a 2-0 win over ten-man Everton at Anfield on Saturday.
It was a Mohamed Salah brace that separated the two sides, including the 31-year-old opening the scoring from the penalty spot.
Liverpool fans have seen their star man miss penalties before, including at Anfield, so it was never a certainty that this one was going to hit the back of the net.
But he was on the money this time around, with Jordan Pickford, who was in between the sticks for Everton, admitting that the Liverpool speedster is a ‘really good penalty-taker’, as he told Premier League Productions (21/10/23 at 2:45 pm).
Even though the scoreline read 1-0, Jurgen Klopp’s side went into stoppage-time still fearful of a late equaliser from the visitors.
But as Sean Dyche’s side pushed for that goal, it opened up space on the counter, with Mo Salah helping himself to seconds in stoppage time.

Mo Salah penalty
“He’s a good penalty taker,” said Pickford. “I just thought in that instant of the game, maybe because it was a pressure penalty that he might go down the middle.
“But he’s a really good penalty-taker and he got one on me today.”

Mo Salah – one of the world’s best
This man doesn’t seem to show any signs of standing still or stagnating in his career, in fact, he is getting better and better by age.
There is only one Premier League game this season – defeat at Tottenham – where Salah hasn’t scored and assisted.
And as the whole footballing world has spoken about, the £35 million signing (Sky Sports) should have had an assist in that game, only for the well-documented mistake from the officials.
Still, after Liverpool missed out on Champions League football last time out, they are making sure that they are going to return this term and push for the title again whilst they are at it.
