Tony Bellew has waxed lyrical about Mohamed Salah even if he ‘absolutely hates’ the fact that he is performing for Liverpool.

It’s the small matter of the Merseyside derby on Saturday, with Sean Dyche’s Everton making the short trip across the city to take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah, who has scored or assisted in every Premier League game bar one this season, is expected to start in his usual right flank role.

Whilst legendary boxer Tony Bellew dons the colours of Everton, even he couldn’t deny the greatness of the 31-year-old, as he labelled him an ‘unbelievable’ goalscorer and ‘one of the best footballers in the world’, as he told talkSPORT.

In 315 games for Liverpool in all competitions, Mohamed Salah has 192 goals and 83 assists, with 144 of those goals coming in the Premier League (transfermarkt)

Come Saturday, he will be looking to add to that tally, and given how well Liverpool have performed going forward this term, you would have to seriously do well to stop this side from putting the ball into the back of the net, even if Bellew has other ideas.

Mohamed Salah praise

“Liverpool are a massive threat,” said Bellew. “The attacking abilities they have.

“Mo Salah, who is probably one of the best footballers in the whole world. He is an unbelievable goalscorer. Season after season. The fella just racks up goals for fun.

“I absolutely hate the fact that he is doing it, but it is what it is. He has them flying.”

Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool legacy

Even now, the Egypt international manages to take his game up a level and prove that he is still one of the best players in the world because he seems to have improved this season.

There was all that talk of Saudi Arabia in the summer, but in the end, and to the relief of all associated with Liverpool, he stayed put.

Whether Salah is in his final season as a Liverpool player or stays on for a few more years, when he does head for the exit door, he will leave the club a bonafide legend and one of their best ever.

Even though he is still writing his name into the club’s legendary books, he would, as of today, make Liverpool’s all-time XI, which is some going.
