Tottenham Hotspur left back Destiny Udogie has been hailed after his performance for Italy against England on Tuesday night.

Destiny Udogie showed his potential as the Tottenham Hotspur ace featured for Italy in their 3-1 defeat to England.

Italy headed to Wembley on Tuesday night and took the lead against England as Gianluca Scamacca found the net.

England hit back through Harry Kane’s penalty before Jude Bellingham teed up Marcus Rashford to put the Three Lions ahead.

Kane rounded off the scoring with his second and England’s third, leaving Italy go head home empty-handed.

Italian media hail Destiny Udogie

Italy will though have seen some promising signs from this game with Tottenham left back Udogie particularly catching the eye.

It was Udogie’s outstanding run up the left flank which set Italy on the attack to open the scoring, showing the kind of attacking ability Tottenham fans are already loving.

Udogie continued to pose a real threat going forward for Italy and produced a fine defensive showing despite picking up a yellow card inside the first 10 minutes.

The Italian press were certainly impressed as Tuttomercatoweb moved to praise Udogie.

They suggested that the early yellow should have been a big problem for Udogie but he instead produced a ‘performance worthy of Wembley’.

TMW praised Udogie’s confidence going forward and believe the move to Tottenham ‘suits him very well’, adding that ‘he has grown’ from the player he was at Udinese.

The notion is that Udogie has seriously improved thanks to Premier League exposure and Italy are now benefiting from that.

Shades of Arsenal display in Udogie performance

Tottenham secured a £15million deal to sign Udogie from Udinese in 2022 but a season-long loan return means he only joined up with Spurs this past summer.

Udogie is thriving off the back of that move and has started every Premier League game so far this season.

Tottenham fans will have loved seeing Udogie thrive against England and his display may even remind them of his performance against Arsenal earlier this season.

Udogie also picked up a first-half yellow card in that game and had to show incredible composure to get his performance back on track.

Udogie not only survived but thrived in that game, showing exactly why Tottenham are so excited about him.

Udogie did the same on Tuesday night and at this rate, he will start earning a reputation as a player who seems to get better whilst playing on a yellow card.
