Tim Sherwood thinks Daniel Levy might have to dip into the January transfer market in order to help Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League title push.
After eight Premier League games, Ange Postecoglou’s side are sitting at the top of the table, with life after Harry Kane starting off in a near-perfect fashion.
Even though it’s still early days, Tim Sherwood thinks that Tottenham are in a title race and he believes ‘more teams are in it’ this season, as he told Sky Sports News (14/10/23 at 2:35 pm).
As a result, he thinks Daniel Levy might have to help Ange Postecoglou bring in players in the winter, if his former side are still ‘there or thereabouts’ in January.
Tottenham did back their new boss this summer, but there are some fringe players, such as Eric Dier, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Hugo Lloris who remained.
As a result, it meant that Spurs couldn’t push the transfer boat out further, so if those players head for the exit door in January, will their departures be used to bring in more players?

Tottenham title race
“I think it’s different this year, I really do,” said Sherwood. “I think there are more teams in it.
“Tottenham have to be in it, at this moment in time. Why not? (In the title race).
“But if they are there or thereabouts in January, then why can’t they go and invest again? Daniel Levy might have to go and do that.”

Pressure off Levy
It wasn’t so long ago that Spurs were throwing as many verbals as possible towards Levy and the manner in which he is running the club.
Given that Spurs are now sitting top of the table and playing attractive football, it would be interesting to see what the reaction from those fans will be now.
Postecoglou has no doubt taken the heat off the chairman, but it’s still early days to properly judge things.
