Douglas Luiz has been linked with Arsenal before, and it seems the Gunners have still not given up hopes of signing the Aston Villa midfielder.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported in CaughtOffSide that Arsenal are interested in signing Douglas Luiz from Premier League rivals Aston Villa.
Romano has noted that Arsenal had bids for Luiz turned down in 2022
The Brazil international, described as “unbelievable” by ex-Villa manager Dean Smith in The Birmingham Mail in June 2020, has since signed a new contract with the Villans.
However, according to Romano, Arsenal are still following the 25-year-old and are keen to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.

Romano said: “As I recently reported, Arsenal have been monitoring Pedro Neto for some time, and I can also say that Arsenal always keep monitoring the same players they like and Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz remains one of them.
“He’s always been appreciated.
“Of course, we know that Arsenal had bids rejected for Luiz in September 2022, and he later went on to sign a new contract at Villa Park, which runs until 2026.
“He’s now a key player for Villa so the deal would not be an easy one, but many clubs appreciate him.”
My View: Arsenal have to wait until next summer to sign Douglas Luiz
In my opinion, Arsenal will have to wait until the summer of 2024 if they are to sign Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa.
I do not believe that Villa are going to sell any of their important players in the January transfer window, and that includes Luiz.
This season, Villa will fancy challenging for the UEFA Champions League places in the Premier League table.
And, Luiz will play an important role in that quest.
Luiz has made 148 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
The midfielder has scored 14 goals and given 13 assists in those games.
