‘Animal’: Teammate wowed by £150,000-a-week Liverpool player on international duty

Argentina got the better of Paraguay in World Cup qualifying in Buenos Aires on Thursday night, and one of the best players on the pitch was Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.

Former Manchester City defender Nicolas Otamendi scored the only goal of the match.

Argentina won 1-0 against Paraguay.

Alexis Mac Allister, who joined Liverpool from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window, started the match.

And, the £150,000-a-week (Spotrac) star was impressive.

Mac Allister’s performance impressed the media.

Goal gave Mac Allister 7 out of 10 and noted: “A few fantastic tackles and did what he always does to keep things ticking with the ball. 

“Absolutely dazzled on in Messi-esque sequence at the edge of the Paraguay box.”

TyC Sports gave the 24-year-old 9 out of 10 and observed: “He gave the feeling that he had played as a number 5 all his life.

“Superb match from Alexis.”

Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni played Mac Allister as the deepest of his three midfielders against Paraguay.

The Liverpool star had 101 touches of the ball, completed 78 out of 82 passes, made one key pass, and made three tackles and one clearance (SofaScore).
