Tim Sherwood thinks Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur would win the Premier League title with Harry Kane.

Tottenham’s new boss briefly worked with Harry Kane prior to his summer transfer to Bayern Munich, as the team haven’t missed their club-record goalscorer during that period.

Eight games in, Spurs are sitting top of the pile, with Tim Sherwood debunking the suggestion that they are ‘better’ without Harry Kane, as he told Premier League Productions (09/10/23 at 2:35 pm).

It was Tim Sherwood who helped bring through the now-England captain at Hotspur Way and he feels it’s a case of Ange Postecoglou making them ‘better’ rather than the team becoming better as a result of their 30-year-old hitman leaving.

Whilst Spurs made a not-too-dissimilar start to the previous campaign under Antonio Conte, things are far, far better under their new coach.

From the style of play, the improvement of previously struggling players and the new signings. It has got fans believing like never before.

Harry Kane under Ange Postecoglou

“I think they are Harry Kane away from winning the league,” said Sherwood.

“I listen to people saying ‘they are better off without Harry Kane’. They aren’t better without Harry Kane. They are better with Postecoglou.”

Tottenham’s aim for this season

The trophy talk will go on until Spurs finally lift some silverware again, but in terms of the Premier League, the aim would have been to get back in Europe.

And, as of this moment, they are showing every sign that it will happen.

Even if Spurs fall heavily from their current top spot. If they can manage to get people talking about whether they are in the title race or not for as long as possible, then in the meantime, it will all but ensure that European football returns.
