Arsenal and Newcastle United are both pursuing Jamie Bynoe-Gittens but the former Chelsea youngster has delivered a blow to the Premier League giants by signing a new contract at Borussia Dortmund.

That is according to BILD, Dortmund tying down one of the most exciting young forwards in European football certainly something of a coup when you consider the size and the stature of the clubs hot on his trail.

Arsenal are reportedly keen. Mikel Arteta is described as a big fan. There is interest from ambitious, deep-pocketed Newcastle United too. Not to mention a Chelsea side who coached the London-born Jamie Bynoe-Gittens at academy level before he earned himself a move to Manchester City.

Capped once by England at U21 level, 19-year-old Bynoe-Gittens is the latest fresh-faced whizzkid to make his name in the yellow-and-black of Dortmund. Arsenal and co may have to wait if they want Bynoe-Gittens to follow in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland with a big-money move to England, however.

The teenager only recently signed a new contract until the summer of 2028 at last season’s Bundesliga runners-up.

“He has no fear,” Dortmund team-mate Karim Adeyemi says of a player the Bundesliga website likens in style to Marcus Rashford.

“For me, he is one of the best players one-against-one I have ever seen, to be honest. He will be a really good player.”

Another former Man City man at Arsenal?

Bynoe-Gittens scored three goals in just 15 Bundesliga appearances last term. His dazzling performances reminiscent of Sancho’s early days at the Signal Iduna Park.

Interestingly, should he end up at Arsenal, Bynoe-Gittens would become the latest former Man City man to end up at the Emirates, after Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Mikel Arteta himself.

“Jamie is someone who can get in there and open things up with his first touch,” said Dortmund boss Edin Terzic.

“Most importantly, he can quicken up the pace of the game. With him, it’s basically quite simple; he has the ability to decide games.

“He’s a game-changer. He doesn’t simply play the game. He makes the difference.”
