Jamie O’Hara labelled the officials and VAR an ‘absolute shambles’ on Twitter after Tottenham Hotspur’s controversial 2-1 win over Liverpool.

Even with his Tottenham hat on, Jamie O’Hara could see that Luis Diaz’s first-half goal, when the scores were 0-0, should have stood, only for VAR to rule it offside.

Given that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool were down to ten men following Curtis Jones’ sending-off, and given how the game finished, then it was a huge, huge moment.

Not only would Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham go on to open the scoring through Son Heung-min, but they would also score a stoppage-time winner via the boot of Joel Matip.

All of that just added fuel to the fire, in the end, with PGMOL admitting to their error and how Luis Diaz’s call should have stood.

Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara made his feelings pretty clear on Twitter after the game.

Tottenham-Liverpool ‘offside’ controversy

“Seriously though, I’ll take the three points all day,” said O’Hara. “But these refs are becoming an absolute shambles.

“I could see from the studio on a small tv it was onside, just bin it if you can’t even get clear decisions correct.”

Wrong headlines, once again

Tottenham have made a very good start to the new season, sitting second and unbeaten under their new manager.

They should be celebrating such a feat with a smile on their faces, and whilst they will, the headlines will not be about them, but the VAR calls.

There are only so many apologies that Howard Webb can dish out, but he has to give another one already this season and it’s not even Christmas.
