Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant has moved to praise Tottenham Hotspur winger Manor Solomon as a ‘special’ player.

Manor Solomon is making a real impact for Tottenham Hotspur and has now received praise from compatriot Avram Grant.

Solomon became the 17th Israeli to play in the Premier League when he joined Fulham last summer.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk wide man followed in the footsteps of players like Yossi Benayoun, Eyal Berkovic and Tal Ben Haim.

Solomon then moved on to Tottenham Hotspur, becoming their second-ever Israeli player after Ronny Rosenthal in the 1990’s.

This is a source of real pride in Israel and the media over there have been looking into his start to life at Tottenham.

Ynet in Israel sent a reporter to London to speak to Solomon, but also had a word with former Chelsea manager Avram Grant.

Grant is the current Zambia boss but still lives in London more than ten years since his spells with Chelsea and West Ham United.

That means Grant is able to see plenty of Solomon and has now offered huge praise for the Tottenham wide man.

Grant told Ynet that Solomon is a simply ‘special player’ and was ‘excellent’ during his loan with Fulham last season.

Grant added that he has actually spoken to Solomon and he is truly delighted to be a Tottenham player right now.

The 68-year-old added that Solomon has really improved his killer instinct in the final third and is already ‘among the best’ in terms of his dribbling ability.

“Manor is a special player; he was excellent at Fulham,” said Grant. “I spoke with him, and he’s thrilled to be at Tottenham; he has improved his killer instinct. What sets him apart is his amazing one-on-one ability; he’s among the best. He is a Premier League player in every sense,” he added.

Solomon stats already impressive after Tottenham move

Solomon has joined Tottenham having been given permission by FIFA to suspend his Shakhtar contract.

The 24-year-old arrived with Tottenham fans believing that he could add valuable depth on the left flank.

Solomon has started Tottenham’s last two games though and is really seizing his chance to shine.

Five key passes and two assists against Burnley showed Solomon’s quality, as did three successful dribbles.

Saturday’s game against Sheffield United was a similar story as Solomon completed four dribbles and registered four key passes.

Solomon still has a fight on his hands with new signing Brennan Johnson knocking on the door, but he is providing real trickiness and creativity in the final third; so far, so good.
