Paul Merson has been left gobsmacked by the qualities in Dominik Szoboszlai’s boots after his encouraging start to life as a Liverpool player.

The 22-year-old was one of the standout signings for Jurgen Klopp this summer, and after four Premier League games, Merson claimed ‘he hasn’t had a bad game’, as he told Sportskeeda.

There was a lot of hype and excitement around Dominik Szoboszlai when Liverpool fans found out they were signing him because he was exactly what they needed.

After 12 months of watching the team regress and the midfield lose its energy, a player of Szoboszlai’s all-action style was needed.

What’s perfect for someone like Jurgen Klopp is that Szoboszlai has attacking qualities that are endless but he has a defensive brain and workrate without the ball that a coach would love.

Either way, during the early stages of the new Premier League season, Merson picked out Szoboszlai as someone who he has loved watching.

Szoboszlai praise

“Dominik Szoboszlai has been the pick of the bunch, for me,” said Merson. “I hadn’t seen much of the lad while he was at RB Leipzig but I have to say I’ve been so impressed by him, he hasn’t had a bad game yet!

“He scored a worldie the other day and does a bit of everything, he’s going to be phenomenal for Liverpool in the coming years.”

Szoboszlai mirrors Klopp out on the pitch

Liverpool lost their captain Jordan Henderson this summer and he left a big void because of his leadership qualities and how he mirrored his manager out on the pitch.

Henderson would set the standards, he was a crowd favourite, aggressive without the ball and he had energy to burn.

Well, those qualities have now been matched by Szoboszlai because he is every bit of what Liverpool have needed and are going to enjoy watching in the years to come.
