Tottenham Hotspur talent Alfie Dorrington has been training with the first team and is set to continue this season.
Alfie Dorrington is being given a chance to shine in Ange Postecoglou’s training sessions with Tottenham Hotspur.
That is according to Football London reporter Alasdair Gold, who notes that Dorrington has been training with Tottenham’s first team at times this season.
Gold suggests that the plan is for Dorrington will continue to receive that opportunity this season, though most likely intermittently rather than permanently.
Gold praised Dorrington as a ‘real talent’ and thinks he now has a chance to progress towards the first-team picture.
Spurs have allowed defenders Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez to move on to Augsburg and Galatasaray respectively, whilst Eric Dier is out of favour under Ange Postecoglou.
That means there may be scope for a youngster to rise up and Dorrington is being given chances to shine.
“I think Alfie Dorrington stands a better chance now of making some headway with Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga heading off. The young centre-back is a real talent and he’s been training with the first team at times and will continue to do so this season and that can only help his development,” said Gold.

Who is Tottenham talent Alfie Dorrington?
Dorrington hails from London and joined the Tottenham ranks at the age of just 13.
The defender studied at Ashmole Academy in Southgate and played just north at Cockfosters FC before joining Spurs.
A regular for Tottenham at Under-18 level, Dorrington is now playing Premier League 2 action at just 18.
Dorrington has also picked up caps throughout the age ranges with England, starting for the Under-19’s against Switzerland on Saturday.
Dorrington has impressed not only with his defensive abilities but also his ability to carry and pass out from the back.
That could really appeal to Postecoglou, with Dorrington emerging as a real talent in the Tottenham ranks.

Spurs have an exciting group of young defenders
News of Dorrington featuring in the Tottenham training sessions comes just as Spurs strike a deal for another young defender.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Tottenham are on the verge of signing Hajduk Split wonderkid Luka Vuskovic.
The 16-year-old is thought to be a huge talent and Tottenham are now set to strike a huge coup by signing him.
Vuskovic can only start playing for Tottenham when he turns 18 in 2025, meaning he will either go out on loan or simply stay with Hajduk until then.
Spurs also signed Ashley Phillips over the summer having seen the defender become a real talent for Blackburn Rovers.
Add in that Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven should have their best days ahead of them and Tottenham appear to have five defenders with big futures.
