Tomas Soucek is now set to sign a new, long-term contract at West Ham United after the Hammers’ co-owner, Daniel Kretinsky, stepped in to see the Irons agree to terms.
That is according to TEAMtalk, which reports that West Ham and Soucek have agreed on the terms of a contract. The 28-year-old has now accepted the London Stadium team’s offer of a four-year deal. It will keep the Czech Republic international in east London until June 2027.
Soucek had entered the final year of his existing terms agreed when he joined the Hammers in July 2020. The Irons paid Slavia Prague £19m to retain the midfielder following his hugely successful spell on loan. The Hammers also sealed an option to extend his contract to 2024.

West Ham agree to a new contract with Tomas Soucek
But rather than extending the 61-cap international’s £67.5k-a-week terms, West Ham have agreed to give Soucek a new contract. An announcement from the London Stadium natives regarding his fresh terms is expected in the coming days following Kretinsky’s intervention.
Kretinsky stepped in to ensure West Ham gave Soucek a new contract to avoid the risk of his compatriot leaving. The Irons’ co-owner believed the midfielder merited being rewarded for his importance to David Moyes. He also wanted to ward off the threat of potential interest.
Daniel Kretinsky intervened to retain Tomas Soucek

Soucek has featured 158 times across all competitions since he first signed for West Ham on loan in January 2020. He has also offered 22 goals and nine assists while starting 144 times. And Kretinsky expects Soucek will remain a crucial figure in West Ham’s plans for the future.
West Ham would value Soucek at £50m in the current market, had he not agreed to a new contract. But news of his new deal should delight Moyes, who was without the Czech star against Luton Town. Soucek was recovering from the head injury he sustained at Brighton.
