Nottingham Forest star Serge Aurier has reacted on Instagram after Tottenham Hotspur announced the departure of Davinson Sanchez on Monday night.

After six years at Tottenham, Davinson Sanchez has headed for the exit door and joined Turkish giants, Galatasaray.

Tottenham stated: ‘We have reached an agreement with Turkish Süper Lig side Galatasaray for the transfer of Davinson Sanchez’, as they posted on Instagram.

In the next Instagram post, Spurs also thanked the former Ajax star for his services to the club, with Serge Aurier issuing a one-word message ‘Patron’, added with a crying and heart emojis.

The duo played alongside each other at Hotspur Way, before Aurier left in 2021 – he is now thriving for Nottingham Forest, who beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge over the weekend.

But now Sanchez, who was a big-money transfer under Mauricio Pochettino, is set to start a new chapter in his career after struggling to progress at Spurs.

Correct call for Sanchez to move on

To keep it blunt, the 27-year-old should have left a number of years ago, perhaps when Daniel Levy sacked Jose Mourinho.

That’s when the clearout at Spurs should have started and the defence should have been revamped because it has been unreliable and error-prone, especially during cup games.

And Sanchez has, on many occasions, been at the heart of it, with the Colombian star set to be joined by Tanguy Ndombele in Turkey.
