Ian Wright thinks Kai Havertz still needs to ‘settle down’ at Arsenal after he had a moment to forget during the 3-1 win over Manchester United.
Even though Arsenal fans were celebrating a dramatic win, it was a game that saw Kai Havertz have more questions asked about him than answers delivered.
Before Manchester United could open the scoring through Marcus Rashford, Arsenal’s big-money summer signing had an ample chance to score from inside the box, but he didn’t even make contact with the ball, instead, he swiped at thin air.
Out of all the Arsenal players, that is the last person that needed to happen to, with Wright stating ‘I haven’t seen that in a long time’ and how ‘at the moment, that’s how it’s going for him’., as he told Premier League Productions (03/09/23 at 5:25 pm).
The positive part of Havertz’s current situation is that Arsenal are still winning games, so he can go through his struggles, but he needs to come out the other side pretty soon.
Plus, he has the full support of his manager, but as Wright pointed out, ‘Arsenal fans are still waiting for it to happen’.

“He needs these kinds of things to happen for him,” said Wright. “He has obviously taken his eye off the ball. I am thinking ‘this is what he needs (a goal)’.
“He needs to settle himself down. There is a lot of talk about him. It’s a great touch. A great touch! But he has just slashed his foot at it. Instead of just watching it. Anything on target and you score.
“I think, at the moment, that’s how it’s going for him. It came off Anthony Martial’s hand to get to him, so I can’t complain about that.
“At the same time, it’s the kind of chance you hope he takes so he can start to get himself going at Arsenal – I haven’t seen that for a long time. The Arsenal fans are still waiting for it to happen for him.”

Extra pressure on Havertz
Even before Havertz could walk into Arsenal’s team, he was told that he was being a ‘flop’.
That doesn’t help because many were questioning his transfer before he could kick a ball, so there was already extra pressure on his shoulders.
But all he needs is one big performance and then he can use that to really motor forward, perhaps that will come in the Champions League.
