Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is expected to stay at the club despite receiving late interest from rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Trevoh Chalobah is now planning to stay at Chelsea rather than make a late move to Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day.
That is according to the London Evening Standard’s Nizaar Kinsella, who claims that Chalobah is ‘firmly expected’ to be a Chelsea player beyond the deadline.
‘No deals with Tottenham or anyone else close’ said Kinsella, seemingly ruling out a late move to Tottenham.
Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this evening that Tottenham had approached Chelsea over a loan deal for Chalobah.
Spurs have been chasing homegrown defenders of late with Tosin Adarabioyo and Lloyd Kelly both wanted.
Tottenham turned to Chalobah but Romano claimed that the deal was ‘difficult’ because of the rivalry between the two clubs.
Nottingham Forest have been chasing Chalobah too whilst Bayern Munich missed out on a deal earlier on deadline day.
Romano has now added that Chalobah is staying with Chelsea and there will be no move to Tottenham before the deadline.
Trevoh Chalobah joins Conor Gallagher in staying at Chelsea despite Tottenham offer
Tottenham have been linked with two Chelsea players of late with both Chalobah and midfielder Conor Gallagher wanted.
Reports from the London Evening Standard this afternoon suggested that Tottenham had verbally offered around £40million to sign Gallagher.
Some wondered if Chelsea would cash in on Gallagher in order to bring in crucial funds following another summer of spending
No deal will be done though with Chelsea deciding to keep hold of Gallagher – and the midfielder no doubt keen to stay at Chelsea anyway.
Gallagher is Chelsea through and through so the notion of a Tottenham move always seemed like a long shot.
Spurs turned to Chalobah but he won’t be joining either with Chelsea keeping two of their homegrown players despite late interest.
