TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent has said that Emile Smith Rowe has been left behind at Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, amid speculation linking the playmaker with moves away from the Emirates Stadium.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker has said on talkSPORT (6:08pm, August 30, 2023) that Arsenal attacking midfielder Emile Smith Rowe is struggling to get back into the team due to competition for places.
Bent has noted that with players such as Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and Leandro Trossard playing well at the moment, the 23-year-old is finding it hard to feature regularly for the first team.
The pundit thinks that Smith Rowe, who can also operate as a winger, has been left behind at Arsenal after emerging onto the scene with fellow England international Saka.
Darren Bent on Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe
90min has reported that Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are interested in signing Smith Rowe from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Bent said about Smith Rowe: “He is a talent, Smith Rowe. When he carries the ball, glides with the ball…
“He has seen the emergence of this Arsenal squad, kind of develop past him.
“If he was fit and part of it, then he would have been part of it.
“He is trying to get in with Saka playing, Odegaard is playing well, Martinelli is playing well.
“We have got Trossard now. There are options. He has found it a little bit difficult.”

We believe that it is going to be extremely tough for Smith Rowe to get into the Arsenal first team anytime soon.
Let us not forget that Arsenal signed Germany international forward Kai Havertz from London and Premier League rivals Chelsea this summer.
Smith Rowe is fully fit now, but he is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League this season.
The 23-year-old playmaker made no starts and only 12 substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal last season.
Unless something dramatically changes, it is hard to see Smith Rowe have a long-term successful career at Arsenal.
