Michael Bridges has stated that Nadiem Amiri would have ‘stayed’ and joined Leeds United if he was allowed to show the Bayer Leverkusen star around the city.
With Daniel Farke boosting his morale-sapped and relegated squad during the summer transfer window, the Leeds United boss has opted to dip into a market he knows very well – Germany’s top-tier.
Many thought that Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, Nadiem Amiri, was set to join the Championship side, but then it was reported that he opted against a move after having a look around the city of Leeds, as reported by The Daily Mail.
That prompted former Leeds star Bridges to joke that, if he was allowed to show Amiri around Yorkshire, then he would have shown him the ‘good sights’, as he told Sky Sports Football.
Let’s be honest, if the Whites were still a Premier League team, then he would have signed on the dotted line by now.
But that’s the power you lose when you drop down a division, with Bridges sharing his thoughts on the Amiri situation.

“They should have let me take him around,” said Bridges. “I would have shown him the good sights. He would have stayed.”

Players who want to play for Leeds
Farke has made this point in his press conferences that he wants players who want to wear the badge and represent the club.
A number of players left on loan after the club’s relegation because they had clauses in their contracts, with that being criticised by the fans.
But Farke has been clear, before the player joins the club, such clauses shouldn’t be put in, and if they can’t accept it, then show them the door.
And with this Amiri situation, if he has doubts, then Leeds should be glad he isn’t joining because you don’t want somebody who is going to down tools once things get tough or look for a way out when things aren’t going his way.
